RUNNING TIPS




Life really is better in running shoes, but you have to run a lot of miles before you truly understand this..

Running and succeeding in endurance events all comes down to really wanting to do it.

Get out in rain and shine. Embrace the weather, embrace the season.

Try this: Run until you think you are exhausted, then try to run at a high pace for 2 more minutes. Notice that you could! That means you were only exhausted in your mind.



Use a GPS watch or smartphone to help you train. It shows speed, distance, calories burned etc. It’s a good motivator, especially as your achievements add up. I recommend Garmin Connect, Strava, or Nike+

Don’t be put off by bad days, failures, occasional quitting, and injury. It’s all part of the show.

Listen to your body. It will let you know most of what you need to know.

Go outside. The world is your gym. Choose different and exciting routes. Road. River. Lakeside. Forest. Trail. Beach. Mountain.

There is such a thing as a runners high, it is really euphoric and worth searching for.
